Family Dispute Resolution

Mediation and Family Dispute Resolution (FDR)

Mediation is an effective form of dispute resolution, encouraging open communication between parties. It involves a neutral third party who facilitates discussions, helping both sides reach a mutually agreeable solution. Mediation can preserve relationships and promote understanding.

Financial Benefits of Mediation and FDR:

Mediation can prevent other costly forms of dispute resolution. Firstly, it typically results in lower legal costs compared to traditional litigation, which can have high costs, with long, drawn out processes. Additionally, mediation can lead to quicker resolutions, allowing parties to save on ongoing expenses related to prolonged disputes. Mediation costs are also fixed, so parties can go in knowing the costs they face.

Benefits of a Psychologist in Mediation and FDR:

Psychologists bring valuable insights into the emotional factors that often influence disputes. Their background in mental health allows them to recognize underlying issues such as grief, anger, or anxiety that may affect communication. By addressing these emotions, a psychologist-mediator can create a safe space where all parties feel understood and respected, promoting healthier dialogue.
