Gottman Therapy

Backed by over 40 years of research Gottman Method Couples therapy is a world renowned, successful approach to helping you better manage conflict, deepen your friendship, intimacy and emotional connection and create a rich sense of shared meaning together.

How it works

Assessment Phase:
Session One: Joint session for the 2 of you together to meet with your therapist (90 mins)

 

Gottman Questionnaires forwarded to each partner for completion. These must be completed prior to individual sessions can proceed.
 

Session Two: Individual session with therapist - Partner 1 (60 mins)
Session Three: Individual session with therapist - Partner 2 (60 mins)

Session Four: Joint session – Feedback and future planning (60 mins)


Therapy Phase: (usually six sessions)

Sessions Five through Ten (120 mins)


More sessions may be added as necessary depending on your situation and current challenges.  Please note the general time frame for couples therapy is anywhere from 10 - 16 sessions onwards.

 

Costs:

Unfortunately you cannot use a mental health care plan to claim a Medicare rebate for couples therapy.

Some private health insurance companies may cover couples therapy. You can call your insurance provider and ask them if they cover Item 300 - Family and Couples Therapy. We do not process private health insurance rebates but can provide an appropriate invoice for you to forward to your provider.

60 minute sessions: $210

90 minute sessions: $290

120 minute sessions: $400
